Give life a chance!

9 years ago, when I was being rushed to the OR for emergency C-section, I told my obstetrician, “I don’t think I’m ready for a premature baby! Let’s just abort!” She knew I was a young girl and terrified and I’ll forever be thankful to her that she didn’t take me seriously!

She calmly said, “Megha, everybody should be given a chance to live!” So I thought, well if it has come to this let’s just try it! This is how my life changing journey started.

Simply by giving life a chance!

Thereafter, every decision of my life has been based sometimes on intuitions and sometimes just giving it a chance. Playing life out is a bet. You sometimes win and sometimes don’t. But if you never lose, you’ve never taken chances and sorry for being blunt, but I’m pretty sure that’s a really boring life!

You must’ve heard this often, “Life is all about chances”, well, that is true! We took a chance with my son, and that was life changing for sure, but it has been the best decision of our lives! We are currently drained out with our new puppy on board. We are realizing it’s more work than a baby! But, we stand by the chance we took. Isn’t that what life is all about anyway?!

I have a favorite quote I swear by; “If there’s even a slight chance of getting something that will make you happy, risk it. Life is too short and happiness is too rare!”

Everything we achieve starts with the decision to try. Take a chance and tell yourself, “what the heck! Let’s just give it a try and see what happens!” I have been called reckless all my life for being like this. But I must say my reckless decisions have brought me the greatest joys in the long run.

You know how they say, in the end we only regret the chances we didn’t take. I don’t want to be on my deathbed regretting and thinking “I should have tried that!” Not waiting for my husband to speak up, I told him I loved him. If I had waited for him to take the first step, we probably wouldn’t have married! And I must say that decision worked out pretty well for all of us! (I’m glad my husband doesn’t blog!)

Taking a chance and deciding to raise a micro preemie gave us our life’s biggest gift! Giving life another chance and staging a comeback from the stroke made me strong!

So all those who judge us reckless can judge us all they want, but the truth is we have lived and will continue to live a better life than them!

Take that chance and leave everything else and travel around the world!

Take that chance and tell him/her that you love them so much!

Take that chance and go bungee jumping!

Whatever it is, do it right now! There’s a quote by Anne Frank, “Dead people receive more flowers than the living ones because regret is stronger than reality.” Don’t let your life be a testament to this statement.

Take a chance.. Give life a chance, you never know what’s in store. What’s the worst thing that could happen? You go wrong? Is that such a big loss! Who says you should never go wrong? Make mistakes and learn from them. You will succeed one day! It is said that Edison had 1000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. But is that even relevant? He finally invented the light bulb and that is what counts and that is what he’s known for!

So friends, whatever you’re fighting with today and whatever you’re concerned about, it definitely has another side too. Take a chance and pick one! You’ve got this!
